Swim results have been uploaded and can be found via the PAST EVENTS page.
Thank you to all who participated and our volunteers. A special thank you to Qld Parks & Wildlife Services for allowing us to use the lake.
A total of 37 swimmers participated across the three events. Seven new open water swimmers participated in the 1km enticer event which pleases us greatly to hear more swimmers are trying open water. As a club our goal is simply to increase participation in open water swimming in the Far North.
Feedback from swimmers on the new larger course was mixed. Some found the distance between the marker buoys (on average 450m) quite daunting whilst others liked only having to complete 1 or 2 laps, mentally far more appealing than 2 or 4 laps. From a safety perspective we will review the course before the next swim. Whilst our ratio of paddlers to swimmers was well satisfied in accordance with Masters Swimming Australia rules our paddlers felt they were spread too thin so we will look at shortening the distance between marker buoys for the next swim.
For swimmers who participate in two out of the three scheduled summer series swims, you will be eligible for the random draw prizes to be handed out at the May swim.
The next swim is on Sunday 1st March. We are hoping to hold it at Lake Barrine but will confirm once Qld Parks & Wildlife Service have issued our permit.
