Swim results have been uploaded and can be found via the PAST EVENTS page.
Thank you to all who participated and our volunteers. A special thank you to Qld Parks & Wildlife Services for allowing us to use the lake and a BIG THANK YOU to Bill & Leanne at the Lake Barrine Teahouse for assisting us with placement of the marker buoys.
A total of 67 swimmers participated across the three events. This is the largest number of participants at any of open water swims yet. Our clubs main goal is simply to increase participation in open water swimming in the Far North and it is very satisfying to know that we are achieving this.
We listened to swimmers feedback from the previous event and changed the swim course to a square. This reduced the distance between marker buoys to approximately 225m which swimmers seemed to prefer. From a safety perspective our water safety personnel were able to observe swimmers better. At this stage we are likely to retain the same course for the next swim in May but will continue to monitor feedback through our club email and facebook page before making a final decision.
For swimmers who participate in two out of the three scheduled summer series swims, you will be eligible for the random draw prizes to be handed out at the May swim.
The tentative date & venue for the next swim is Sunday 3rd May at Lake Barrine but will confirm once Qld Parks & Wildlife Service have issued our permit.
We encourage feedback from any swimmer, spectator or volunteer on how we can improve our open water swim. As Mudcrabs we have a hard exterior so we also encourage constructive criticism.
